We have that I’m common Pierre! It’s such a great quote. And love to know that he was an avid gardener - I hadn’t realized that! Thank you for reading along.
Jane, this is a beautiful lesson, thank you — thank you for sharing the congruency and wise reminders (while all poignant, 2-3-4 particularly notable for me). I so appreciate how relatable you present this - what’s visible (actual jardin) and how the kind friend is one to trust with le jardin secret and how there is a time the latter can be shared. Thank you again, thoughtful and reflective prompts and reminders to take time for cultivating yourself. 💌
Marcey! Thank you, as always, for taking the time to read and for always taking the time to write such thoughtful responses! I really appreciate it. I'm still learning as I go - and of course, jardins are seasonal...so let's see where we are in a couple of months. In any case, both with the jardin secret and with the newsletter, I am enjoying the journey...most of the time =)
Jane! Seasonal as we can see and learn as they change and I hope you continue the journey - your promos are profound and meaningful. And what’s worthwhile does take time, patience, passion and perseverance — the ups and downs and hopefully learning along the way. I hope you continue and keep on, keeping on — thank you for what you share, in ever so grateful for you and your wisdom.
"What do you need to make sure your Jardin Secret thrives?"
I need to make sure I am putting myself and my needs first. Advocating for what I know is right for me. Easier said than done but, like a garden, good things take time.
Sage Mardi! Yes indeed, you have to put yourself first! Self-care (in whatever form works for you....like running! BTW, I went for a run and thought of you) is number one. It is easier said than done, and everything is seasonal - I hope you are in the season of doing great things for yourself!
Thank you for this beautiful piece, Jane. I love the parallel you drew between our inner jardin and the ones we tend outside. It reminded me of something I heard recently on a podcast with Jay Shetty, he spoke about checking his “seeds and weeds” each week. Noticing what he’s planted and how it’s growing, but also recognizing the weeds—unhelpful thoughts or habits—and deciding whether to clear them out or transform them into something better. Such a lovely echo of your metaphor.
Thank you, Pamela! I love Jay Shetty! I will absolutely try to track that down and listen. Most importantly, I really appreciate you reading and taking the time to make a comment filled with richness! I'm enjoying exploring the 'Jardin Secret' concept (it's actually a term I first discovered from French singer Dalida!)...and since then, I have been thinking more and more about their importance. Hopefully, it makes you think about yours, too.
Ah, the jardin secret—so quintessentially French, isn’t it? That cherished inner space, quietly cultivated and fiercely protected. A beautiful way to honor their deep need for privacy.
Thank you Pamela! I will absolutely check it out and I will report back! And yes, so quintessentially French. That beautiful little space, reserved just for you!
I loved this, Jane.
Thank you my sweet!
What a great read, you champion for writing such a great prompt. You really are something ✅❤️👍🇦🇺
Merci Nicole!! Really appreciate you writing along!
A lovely read. Thank you.
So glad to have you read along! Thank you!
Thank you Jane! I love this quote from Louis de Funès. In his later years, he became a devoted gardener at his château north of Nantes.
