This list is great, Jane. You articulate well the benefits of all the challenges of being part of another culture. I don't live in France, but have been visiting for 40 years.

I loved your book! I learned a lot. I have a novel coming out this summer with a scene set in your cooking school. I fictionalized it, of course, but the owner of the school gives my character a big break for her illustration career. Imagine how thrilled I was to see the watercolor illustrations on the cover of your book!

So glad you are writing this, and I can't wait to listen to your podcast.

Bonjour dear Cynthia! My goodness I am over the moon that you read my book - I hope it makes you want to hop on a plane and return for visit.

I'd LOVE to see your book! How very exciting! Please keep me posted on the release.

If you love watercolors, you should check out Jessie Kanelos Weiner—she is the mastermind behind the cover. She is also from the Midwest (Chicago) and now lives in Paris!

I'd love to know what you think of the podcast - I am still finding my voice, but it is a fun endeavor!

Your book was great! And I always have a plane ticket to Paris. I just can't help myself. I will be there April 2 - 6 and most of October this year.

I will definitely share news of my book with you! I think you will love the role you and your cooking school play in the novel.

I will check out Jessie - the cover she did for you was a true delight.

Can't wait to listen to the pod - now I am binging Wilder about the Little House on the Prarie books. It's by Glynnis McNichol and is fantastic!

I love seeing your media empire coming into the world and look forward to more of your thoughtful writing.

Thank you dear Marcey! I had forgotten 'au pif' until Dorie reminded me of it - and I love it. It's a good reminder to trust our instincts! We all need to pause and reflect - thank goodness writing this newsletter forces me to do so!

Love this list so much! Paris also taught me to love walking (you know, lemonade out of lemons in the winter of 1995 when the entire transit system was on strike and I had to walk from the 2nd to the edge of the city to get a lift to my work in the banlieue....). Your newsletter never ceases to make me think. Love it!!

Hello dear Mardi! Yes, a good old transit strike will force you to hit the streets of Paris...and the silver lining is you realize that it is a tiny walkable city (plus it helps to get those 10k steps in!) So very glad to have you follow along on this new journey! I LOVE your newsletter - so its a great exchange of thoughts!

It is SUCH a tiny walkable city (compared to Toronto!). It did take a transit strike to make me realise it but I was so glad I did!
